I was lucky enough for my parents to have a mini tape camcorder when I was growing up. They’d record holidays with it, mostly: Christmas, Easter - my siblings and I bunched together at the top of our staircase dressed in footy pajamas. I was even luckier that they let an eight year old steal that camera to film comedy sketches, stop motion animations, even full-fledged movies.

I can’t say for sure what drew me to the camcorder, but it was immediate and lasting. I’d spend my days thinking of films I could make around the house, stories I could tell with my brother and sister. It’s not always easy to share what’s in your head when you’re eight, when you’re any age if we’re being honest, but the camera opened up that possibility. We’d premiere for my parents, grandparents and they’d watch and they’d listen. I knew they were hearing us; my grandmother let out a happy tear after watching  a movie dedicated to her sister, who had recently passed. She loved frogs  - we were nine and made a film about a free-spirited talking frog, creatively titled “Frog Tale”.

I understand that if you’re reading this, you want to assess probably both our dedication to the craft and our ability. Or maybe you really just want to know who we are, and to that I say: thanks for checking in!

In case you were concerned, I didn’t stop making films when I was nine. Since then I’ve worked as an editor and PA for WetDog Media,  directed, edited, and written films for Brown University Motion Pictures, worked for the Boston-based post-production company Engine Room, directed photography for a couple professional horror films (not by favorite genre, if I’m being frank), founded and ran a local production outfit focused on corporate videos,  built a few filmmaking organizations, and produced internal promotional materials for Adobe Inc.  Might seem like burying the lead to put all of that here, but who I am as a filmmaker has grown out of that eight year old kid finding clever ways to make people see things the way he did. I want you to know that, for me, filmmaking is about communicating an idea or a feeling

Plus, if you’re looking for accolades you should really check out Madison - she has way more awards than I do. Really the talent of the operation.
