We want to tell true stories.
We know that every writer, filmmaker, production company out there wants to tell stories, and I doubt any of them want to tell false ones. So it’s only fair that we explain what we mean when we invoke honest storytelling.
For us, a true story does not mean documentary or even nonfiction. A true story is one that you understand fundamentally when it’s told; something that registers as a part of the real world. A true story is empathetic, it respects its characters, and it represents people as they are. But a true story must also understand you, so that the core of what it is trying to say gets across intact.
We want to tell true stories, we want to tell them about the people and the things worth sharing, and we want to tell them well.
